Just to add to my earlier blog about looking at other countries to export or resources to we find China in need and we have the demand. What is the issue. With regulations done and approved let us get this shipping out to bring money back into Canada. there is a level of complexity when dealing with other countries as backroom deals consist of do this and we will do that. So these items can get hectic when Canada is looking at our import/Export sector and adjusting policies to better protect the sectors that have packed up and left the country.

This is one where I am on the fence with as I do realize that savings and cut backs have to occur.  Any person or government body does not think so they have their heads in the sand.  It would be time to shake these people really good.  Why would Canada, a sovereign country, rely on another country to dictate policy.  Then try to figure out the complexity that will arise from enforcing it.  I may be a supporter of some things that the government does do but this one just does not add up and I can see how easily  things will be overlooked or bypassed and then we have another Walkerton ordeal to deal with or  worse we render our drinking water unusable.  Which would you prefer?

Me personally, I want neither.  I think we should  keep our policies in-house, but still cut back.  They do not have currently enough employees to properly police but filling these voids with University students who are in an environmental  based program or certain courses for those in a Biology degree.  We should be pushing more of our new talent into free or cheap labour during their University/College days to not only provide them experience but also so that they can build on their career network.  It would all work out in the end as I imagine one could have 5 students compared to 1 engineer for the same money.

What ever the government does they really need to tread lightly with this area as one major issue can affect us Canadians and our health for decades afterwards.

What I take from this is that it proves with drive and knowledge you can find replacement products that are not as harmful to our micro environment. The real test comes with how well it works. I would only assume that this has been tested as you would hate to have them disappear if there was any major accidents. Great concept for a Canadian company. Keep pushing forward.

Reading through this article I can see both sides of why the reform is hit with resistance, but also reading through the article there is a strong sense that the workers within this department need to be fired.  To be to the point.  My wife has been rejected from EI because she is a private school teacher and is laid off each year for the summer, now she is not paid the amount or for the summer like the public school teachers are, but we accepted their reason and planned next year accordingly.  Yes there is jobs out there that are not full year and are seasonal, but does this mean that there is nothing to be done?  What if in areas where the population is mainly seasonal workers have the unemployed complete required volunteer activities provided through the government.  This way we address the issue and those getting EI they are justifying it by giving back to the government. Please note that we will not address the union based workers and the issues they have with this.

To get to the biggest issue though is the fact that the workers within this department seem to feel they are indispensable.  Changing documents so that a specific claimant can fall into a different bracket and be allowed to continue on or get the benefits. Why is it that when we hear of these occurrences there is not any consequences.  It just brings this to the forefront within our government and why people do have issues within it.  Even though they will deny it forever, there is a culture of jobs for life.  You can be convicted of a serious crime, be sent to jail and then upon release resume your job within the government.  It just seems that these bargaining deals gave the unions too much artificial power and they were able to bamboozle us, Canadians, into agreeing to contracts where we gave away too much.  Now we did not get to sign them personally but our representative did.  With all these cuts that are happening to our wallets as citizens when will it be consistent that at any level of government there is consequences implemented for doing a poor job or there is no pay raise when you have done no improvements.  We seriously need to look at this and make the change now rather than do what we typically do and wait until stuff has hit the fan.

This is a crucial time for Canadians.  We must get past the idea that oil sands are not good.  We sit around trying to do good for everyone even if it means we need to cut off our own arm.  Why is it that we try so hard to please others when Canada as a nation has so much to offer the world.  With our Energy and Mining Industries Canada has the potential to make ourselves better off in this world economy.  Looking around why would we wait for others to fix the problem and get the world back on track.  We need to focus on ourselves and our nation.

I would first start off saying that we are not perfect and once we can come to terms with that we can move forward.  The amount of negative impact that Canada has on the world is small, but does not mean we can forget it.  Improving or Energy Industry while balancing with environmental policies and initiatives we can proudly move Canada forward into being the leader in this industry.  With this focus on profitability and sustainability, why would we sell our product to the United States for less than other countries are willing to pay?  Have they done anything for us?  Well I guess we can give them the fact that they were strongly involved with the Global Economic crash of 2008 which was quickly forgotten about.  If I am selling a good, no matter what it is, and I have 2 potential purchasers both with long-term agreements and one is willing to pay me $1.00 for each unit and the other is willing to pay $5.00 per unit, it is very self-evident which one should be chosen or is it?  There are other factors which we need to look  at but simply stated the U.S. has placed higher restrictions and tariffs on us as individuals and businesses.  So the real question is, how much do we really owe them because it seems that if the U.S. can take care of themselves they would not hesitate on cutting Canada off.  The latest policies from the U.S. have been implemented from the Obama party and that does not sit well with me as I feel Obama was a flash in the pan president and has not held much of any value to us as Canadians or more importantly to his own U.S. citizens.

We need to stand up and be proud of ourselves and what we have done so far but more importantly how we can move forward to offer all of us a better future in Canada.  With this I will add, for those elections coming up really look at your candidates and ask yourself how are they going to improve our lives not just my life in Canada.
